The Google Pixel 8 line has won the title of “The Best Smartphone” at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2024. This Prize underlines the device’s outstanding features and extreme effectiveness. However, one may wonder what sets the Pixel 8 apart from similar devices. Now, let’s dive a little deeper into its main features.

It will be exciting to see Google’s approach to the Pixel 9 series next year.

The Pixel 8 carries on the Pixel series’ continuity in terms of design language, but now with a small size as well, and the corners are slightly rounded compared to the ones that previous Pixel phones have had. It has a 6.17-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits, and HDR support. The cell is powered by a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide one both of which can be used to take clear photos and videos. With Tensor G3 chip, 8GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage, the Pixel 8 is engineered by Google. Featuring a 4,485mAh battery that supports fast charging and Android 14 with it right out of the box, it is quite an impressive device.

While the Pixel 8 Pro still has a bigger screen size of 6.7 inches, the new OLED LTPO display offers even better resolution and peak brightness than the previous Pixel 8. Apart from that, it has a triple-camera setup comprising a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The Pixel Pro 8 comes with the same Tensor G3 chip and has 12GB of RAM. You can select storage of up to 1 TB in the US market. It has a larger 5,050 mAh battery, but the charging speeds are a bit slower via both wired and wireless charging when compared to the smaller version.

Some common features of the new smartphones include the new Tensor G3 chip, seven years of software updates and security patches, and a Titan M2 security chip. Understandably, the newest Pixels have received many positive reviews. The new version is brought to a whole different level. Compared to the previous ecosystems, this looks as if it was from a different world. Doing this, the only thing that is left to see is whether or not Google manages to recreate, or even surpass the success with the Pixel 9 lineup this year.
