Fix YouTube Search Bar Not Working

Fix the YouTube Search Bar Not Working

Fix 1. Clear Your Browser’s Cache & Cookies Data

Unresponsiveness of the YouTube search bar may be the result of corrupted cache and cookies data stored by your browser. Clearing cache and cookies data may help to get the feature back.

If you use Chrome browser, follow these steps to wipe out corrupted cache and cookies files:

Click on Three Virticle Dots > Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data > Advanced > Select time range > Check the boxes next to the “Browsing history”,  “Cookies and other site data”, and “Cached images and files” > clear data.

After completing the steps, relaunch YouTube and try using the search bar to see if this started working or not.

Fix 2. Use Incognito or Private Mode of your Browser

The incognito mode is a private mode of your browser. If after following the first fix, the issue is still there, try accessing YouTube search in an incognito mode.

Press the Ctrl+Shift+N keyboard shortcut to open an incognito window in your Chrome browser. Open YouTube and try using the search feature.

Fix 3. Update Your Browser

To prevent any compatibility issues, make sure your browser is running on its latest version. An older or outdated browser version may prevent some YouTube features like the search bar from working properly.

Click on Three Vertical Lines> Settings > About Chrome.

If there is any update available for your Chrome browser, it will start downloading automatically. After completing the update, try opening YouTube and using the search bar.

Fix 4. Switch To Another Browser

If the problem persists, try changing your browser. For example, if you are facing issues while using the Chrome browser, try using Microsoft Edge (Bing) and vice versa.

Open the YouTube through the alternative and see if the problem has been resolved or not.

Conclusion

If the YouTube search bar is not working for you, try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies data, installing pending updates for your browser, accessing YouTube through your browser’s incognito mode, and using alternative browsers.

Additionally, if the problem is still there, try these steps:

  1. Ensure that the Date and Time settings are correct on your device.
  2. Update the YouTube App.
  3. Clear YouTube app cache & data.

I hope you have resolved the issues!
