Error code 05-300 on Samsung SmartThings refers to a problem connecting/entering the access point (AP) provided by your device.

The error may appear due to a number of things, including – unstable/inappropriate internet, a temporary glitch with your device, corrupted app cache and data, compatibility issues between your device and the SmartThings app, etc.

How to Troubleshoot SmartThings Error Code 05-300?

Follow these steps to troubleshoot this error – 

Restart Your Appliance and Phone, Launch the app, and try Connecting Again

Sometimes, there is no need to follow technical actions to solve the problem, just a simple restart can solve it. Restarting everything and trying again helps resolve the error – if it is appearing due to a temporary glitch in the connection. Restarting provides a fresh start that can help establish connections. 

Power Cycle your Router and Appliance

If restarting and trying again doesn’t help, try power cycling your Internet devices and devices. Disconnect both devices from the power source and leave them on for at least 5 minutes. Reconnect them to the power source and turn them on. Try reconnecting the home appliance to the app.

Switch between the Internet

Switching between available internet can help the app connect to your home device. For example, if you are using WiFi in your home, switch to mobile data and vice versa.

Use a Compatible Phone

However, the SmartThings app is compatible with almost all Android and iOS phones, but not all. The app is optimized for Samsung smartphones, and hence, some features may be limited when you use it with smartphones from other vendors.
